Eric Burns is a leading Democratic communications and media strategist and pundit in Washington, DC. He has worked on numerous political campaigns in the United States and abroad and has been a fixture in American media in recent years, appearing regularly on MSNBC, RT, Current TV and many other networks. Burns’ innovative work in communications has been featured in the New York Times Magazine, The Hill, Politico, Rolling Stone Magazine, the Washington Post and many others.

A recognized expert on combating conservative misinformation in the media, Burns is the founder of progressive communications firm Bullfight Strategies. Perhaps best known as the former president of Media Matters for America, he worked closely with the Obama Administration. He previously served as Communications Director for the powerful Rules Committee Democrats in the U.S. House of Representatives and for late Congresswoman Louise Slaughter. Burns also served as Communications Director for US Congressman Chris Bell. His work in Congress on the issues of ethics reform and the Republican Culture of Corruption, with both Bell and Slaughter, proved instrumental in the Democrats taking control of the U.S. Congress in 2006 for the first time in 14 years. A former Republican political strategist in Texas, Burns also worked for then Texas Governor George W. Bush. A former investment banker, Eric has a degree in Economics from the University of Texas at Austin. He is an artist in his spare time and lives in New York City.
